Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Listen, Israel: The LORD is our God. The LORD is the only God. Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Take to heart these words that I give you today. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you’re at home or away, when you lie down or get up. Write them down, and tie them around your wrist, and wear them as headbands as a reminder. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

The ten laws were not suggestions, they were commandments. They cover the essentials of how to have a proper relationship with God and man. After the congregation of Israel were given the ten commandments they were told to obey them, talk about them, reach them, write them down, and put them in places where you are constantly reminded of them.

If I were to conduct a survey among those who call themselves Christians, I wonder how many could even tell me each of the ten commandments. Could you? How about the way that Jesus summarized them in Matthew 22:37-39?
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and most important commandment. The second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’

How often do you remind yourself of God’s most important laws … and follow them?
