2 Corinthians 12:6-7
“If I ever wanted to brag, I wouldn’t be a fool. Instead, I would be telling the truth. But I’m going to spare you so that no one may think more of me than what he sees or hears about me, especially because of the excessive number of revelations that I’ve had.
Therefore, to keep me from becoming conceited, I am forced to deal with a recurring problem. That problem, Satan’s messenger, torments me to keep me from being conceited.”

Of all the things that are going on in these verses what caught my attention was the line, “excessive number of revelations”. Other translations read,”exceeding greatness of the revelations”, or abundance of the revelations”.

This seems, to me, to be an odd thing for Paul to say. Can it be possible to have an excessive amount of revelations from God? I wouldn’t think so.

From reading the letters that Paul wrote, I invision him as bold but not boastful. God was using him in amazing ways to spread the good news about Jesus. Because if his rabbinical training, he had insites and understanding that others might not have seen. Were they excessive? No, of course not. Nothing that God does can be too much. It maybe more than we want to know but never more than we need to know.
