MUSINGS – January 02, 2019

Matthew 5:13-16
“You are salt for the earth. But if salt loses its taste, how will it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled on by people. “You are light for the world. A city cannot be hidden when it is located on a hill. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket. Instead, everyone who lights a lamp puts it on a lamp stand. Then its light shines on everyone in the house. In the same way let your light shine in front of people. Then they will see the good that you do and praise your Father in heaven.

Do you live your life as though you were on display? You are! People are watching you to see how you react to the good times and the bad. I know because I was one of those watchers.

Through no fault of my own, I fell in with a tough crowd … of Christians. I hadn’t yet turned my life over to God in Christ. I observed that these folks who professed Jesus as their Lord had the same day to day challenges that I did. I saw their praise to Him for the good. I also saw their strength through him when their lives were derailed. It was not the gosples of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John that convinced me, it was the gosples of Jim, Jan, Steve, and Ernie that convinced me of the reality of a risen savior.

I’ll ask again, do you live your life as though you were on display?
