MUSINGS – March 21, 2019
THE TWOFOLD REASON
Jesus moved on from there and went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up a mountain and sat there. A large crowd came to him, bringing with them the lame, blind, disabled, those unable to talk, and many others. They laid them at his feet, and he cured them. The crowd was amazed to see mute people talking, the disabled cured, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. So they praised the God of Israel.
Jesus the Christ always demonstrates to us how we are to conduct ourselves in relationship with each other. Indeed it is to love others as we love ourselves. (Mark 12:31) or as said in Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does the LORD require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
Jesus, the very embodiment of God’s love, took pity on the frailty and brokenness of our mortal bodies, he cured all those who came or were brought to him. This was one reason for these miraculous healings.
The second reason for the miracles was they were meant to be like signposts along a road that point you in the right direction. They point us toward God, so that we may fully understand how we should revere him, namely, that he is merciful and loving; that he gladly helps everyone who comes to him.
