MUSINGS
NOTHING I DESIRE COMPARES

Matthew 13:44-46
The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field. When a man discovered it, he buried it again. He was so delighted with it that he went away, sold everything he had, and bought that field.”

“Also, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant who was searching for fine pearls. When he found a valuable pearl, he went away, sold everything he had, and bought it.”

This selection of scripture reminded me of this song by Don Harris and appears on the Compilation WoW Worship (1999).

Lord, You are more precious than silver.
Lord, You are more costly than gold.
Lord, You are more beautiful than diamonds, and
Nothing I desire compares with You.

And who can weigh the value of knowing You
Oh, who can judge the worth of who You are
Lord, who can count the blessing of loving You
Who can sing just how great You are
How great You are

Lord, You are more precious than silver.
Lord, You are more costly than gold.
Lord, You are more beautiful than diamonds, and
Nothing I desire compares with You.

Oh
Lord, You are more precious than silver.
Lord, You are more costly than gold.
Lord, You are more beautiful than diamonds, and
Nothing I desire compares with You.

Nothing I desire compares with You.
Nothing I desire compares with You.

What would you give to live forever, free of pain and worry? That is what Jesus offers us, spending eternity bathed in the light of the Lord. Is that not the most spectacular treasure you could ever want? Would you not give all that you have to gain it?

The good news is the gift is freely given. However you must be willing to give over your self-centered and self-willed life and follow him.
